The course comprises a familiarization training programme appropriate to duties and responsibilities of ship’s crew, including characteristics of tanker cargoes, their associated hazards, safety measures, pollution prevention, emergency operation, cargo equipment and operations.
The certificate on oil and chemical tanker familiarization course acquire the master, chief engineer, chief officer, second engineer, deck and engine officers, electro technical officer and ratings assigned to duties related to cargo handling and cargo equipment on board tanker, as well as take care of cargo.
Candidates successfully completing the course should be able to assume the duties and responsibilities related to cargo and cargo equipment, as specifically assigned to them.
The course is open to seafarers who are to be assigned specific duties and responsibilities related to cargo and cargo equipment on tankers.
The course takes full account of the detailed outline set in D.33. part of the Regulation on ranks and certification of seafarers (Official Gazette Montenegro number 55/2013). The course is fully compliant with the part of IMO Model Course 1.01.
