This course aims to provide knowledge to those who may be designated to perform the duties and responsibilities of a Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO), as defined in section A/2.1.8 (and section A/17.1) of the ISPS Code, and in particular the duties and responsibilities with respect to the security of a port facility, for ensuring the development (or for developing) of a Port Facility Security Assessment, for ensuring the development (or for developing) of, implementing, maintaining and updating a Port Facility Security Plan and for liaising with Ship Security Officers (SSO-s) and with Company Security Officers (CSO-s).
This course is designed for all officers who are to perform the duties and responsibilities of a Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO).
Those who successfully complete this course should be able to undertake the duties and responsibilities of a Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO), as defined in section A/2.1.8 (and section A/17.1) of the ISPS Code.
It is assumed that those attending this course will be persons employed (or to be employed) by a port facility operator and that they are likely to be designated as Port Facility Security Officer or to be designated as his/her deputies in accordance with the conditions set out in the Regulation on ranks and certification of seafarers (Official Gazette of Montenegro number 55/2013).
The course takes full account of the detailed outline set in D.45. part of the Regulation on ranks and certification of seafarers (Official Gazette Montenegro number 55/2013). The course is fully compliant with the IMO Model Course 3.21.
