The course aims to provide the trainees with introduction knowledge and understanding of basic theory and practical skills necessary for a Rating as able seafarer deck.
The course is designed for all future rating as able seafarer deck that meet the conditions set in the Regulation on ranks and certification of seafarers (Official Gazette of Montenegro number 55/2013).
Candidates successfully completing the course will be competent to steer a ship, use compass and autopilot, watch keeping on bridge, types of ships, ship equipment actions to prevent and act in a case of emergency, EPIRB and SART, personal and collective survival aids and equipment. They will gain knowledge regarding COLREG, light and shapes according to the International Code of Signals.
Officers who would like to undertake this course must have approved seagoing service of not less than 12 months or appropriate seagoing service and knowledge of ship operations.
All trainees must be certified by doctor to be in good health.
The course takes full account of the detailed outline set in D.5. part of the Regulation on ranks and certification of seafarers (Official Gazette Montenegro number 55/2013).
