The course aims to provide the trainees with introduction knowledge and understanding of basic theory and practical skills necessary for a rating as able seafarer engine in a manned engine room.
The course is designed for all future rating as able seafarer engine in a manned engine room that meet the conditions set in the Regulation on ranks and certification of seafarers (Official Gazette of Montenegro number 55/2013).
Candidates successfully completing the course will be understand the principles of operation and procedures for working with internal combustion engines, with the machinery systems and their parts. Rules and procedures regarding watch keeping in a engine room together with safety measures and procedures on board ship and actions to prevent pollution at sea.
Officers who would like to undertake this course must have approved seagoing service of not less than 12 months or appropriate seagoing service and knowledge of ship operations.
All trainees must be certified by doctor to be in good health.
The course takes full account of the detailed outline set in D.23. part of the Regulation on ranks and certification of seafarers (Official Gazette Montenegro number 55/2013).
